Rupee under pressure
MUMBAI,
FEB. 17.
The rupee today came under renewed pressure after a late round of hectic all round dollar demand wiped out early gains and cut short a brief overnight rally, helped by healthy trade and foreign fund inflows.
In fairly erratic trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee closed at 43.80/81 a dollar, sharply lower from Wednesday's close of 43.7450/7600 and early high of 43.73/74. It opened on a positive note at 43.74/75 due to the dollar's global weakness. After reaching a high of 43.73/74, the rupee tumbled to 43.80/81 at close, dealers said PTI
