MADIKERI, FEB. 17. The Coorg Centre for Information Technology (CCIT) will organise a three-day IT and Consumer Mela on the Cauvery College campus at Gonicoppa in Virajpet taluk from February 25, its director, C.C. Thimmaiah, said here on Thursday. The event, organised annually, will be the fourth in a row in Kodagu, Mr. Thimmaiah told presspersons here. The CCIT has succeeded in its endeavour to popularise information technology among the public and students in the last few years to keep them abreast with the latest in the IT sector, he claimed. The CCIT had provided free Internet access to students, particularly from the rural sector in Kodagu in the last three exhibitions. The Government has extended similar facilities to students in all district headquarters in the State from this year, Mr. Thimmaiah said. The State Government, through the IT Department, has been supporting the mela. Competitions in quiz, essay and debate will be organised during the event for students. Over 80 reputable companies in various sectors are putting up stalls, he said.
