BANGALORE, FEB. 17. With an alarming 83 per cent of organisations having reported information security breaches in India, according to a PriceWaterhouse Coopers report, Canon India has come out with a peripheral security solution that protects the hard-disk on its imaging and printing devices. At the launch press conference here today, the Canon Director, Marketing, Lakshmi Narayan Rao, said that the solutions were aimed at addressing the growing need for organisations to have a secure networked imaging and printing infrastructure. Another driver of these solutions would be international legal and compliances issues falling into place. The peripheral security solution, he said, would not be compatible with any other brand of multi-function devices (MFDs) and that there would not be any additional cost implication on MFDs. Talking about security threat, Mr. Rao said that it was increasing and that non-virus security incidents affected 54 per cent of the organisations. In view of this, security and compliance had become hot list on the agenda of CIOs. Canon would address these issues through a drive called "operation market storm'' to include building market awareness, sales promotions and customer interaction.
