PONDICHERRY, FEB. 17. Sanjeevinagar near Auroville is gearing up for a two-day Village Heritage Festival starting February 19. The festival is being organised by the Mohanam Cultural Centre in collaboration with the local youth club, the women's club, the elders, the craft unit holders and the Tourism Department. It aims to give visitors a taste of village life. On Saturday morning, after the inauguration by the Minister for Tourism, K. Lakshminarayanan, there will be a craft market showcasing the work of village handicraft units. This will be followed by folk and classical dances, traditional games, traditional snacks and meals and kolattam and koothu by youngsters at 3.30 pm. There will also be a Siddha medicine stall set up by the Pitchandikulam Bio Resource Centre and a demonstration of original crafts in Thoppu Veedu.
