KOCHI, FEB. 17. Paramount Sporting Club (Ernakulam) blanked Hockey Academy (Palakkad) 2-0 in the Maruti Suzuki Cup all-Kerala hockey tournament which began at the Maharaja's College Ground here on Thursday. Both the goals came in the first half, through G.L. Praveen Kumar and C.B. Rebin, as Paramount moved to the semifinals. In the other quarterfinal, Beatrice (Thalassery) pipped Southern Naval Command (Kochi) 3-1, via the tie-breaker. The teams were level at the end of regulation time with the goals coming from Navy's A. Kumar (22nd minute) and Beatrice's Shaji Mohammed (57th). And in the tie-breaker, only Beatrice's K.M. Hamsa and C. Binod were successful. The Kerala Sports Minister Dominic Presentation inaugurated the four-day tournament, organised by the Ernakulam District Hockey Association as part of its golden jubilee celebrations.
