DURBAN, FEB. 17. South Africa's effort to find a new national coach for its cricket team would move into top gear tomorrow with their Board advertising for the job through domestic and international structures. The United Cricket Board of South Africa CEO Gerald Majola said in a statement here on Thursday that the advertisement, to be issued on Friday, would run for three weeks and thereafter prospective candidates would be interviewed by a special panel. The new coach is expected to take over from incumbent Ray Jennings, whose temporary contract would come to an end after South Africa's tour to the West Indies at the end of May. One of the names, other than Jennings, who has been mentioned for the job is former Australian captain, Steve Waugh. But, according to reports here, it was unlikely that Waugh would be interested in the job as he was involved in a number of educational and humanitarian projects in India. Majola said the appointment of the new coach would depend on the suitability of the candidates and would be for a period of two-years -- till the end of 2007 World Cup in the West Indies. ``We have to allow sufficient time for the panel to interview all the potential candidates and to be completely satisfied that they have appointed the best person for the job,'' he said. Jennings, who is currently preparing the team for the Test and one-day series against Zimbabwe, has said that he would also apply for the job as his current position was only for an interim period.
