India-Pakistan tournament

NEW DELHI, FEB. 17. Corporate golf enthusiasts from India and Pakistan will tee off for the `Golf Dil Se' two-day tournament at the Arnold Palmer-designed DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon on Friday.

`Golf Dil Se' is an initiative of a few golf lovers from the Capital to unite two cultures and people through sport.

India will be represented by a 16-member team including former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Farooq Abdullah, Ranjan Bhattacharya, K.P. Singh of DLF Universal, Hardeep Singh of Cargill India, Rana Talwar of Sabre Capital Worldwide, Shaw Wallace President Kapil Channa and the Indian Golf Union (IGU) President, Prakash Bhandari.

The Pakistan team comprises former pro Taimur Hassan Amin, Azad Kasmi of Azamlok, Omar Faruque of Greaves Pakistan, and Executive Vice-President of Escorts Investment Bank, Arshad Ismail Khan.

C. Chaudhary and Shafique Haider, respective captains of the Indian and Pakistani teams, will inaugurate the tournament on Friday.

The tournament will be played under two formats. On the opening day, in the individual Stableford format, the best 12 scores out of 16 from each team will count toward the final score.

The second day will witness the teams compete in four-ball matchplay day-night competition. — Our Sports Reporter
