BHOPAL, FEB. 17. The Madhya Pradesh Government today suspended the controversial Deputy Superintendent of Police, Anita Malviya, who had registered a case against the Bhopal Superintendent of Police, Pawan Shrivastava, at the Anusuchit Jati Kalyan (AJK) police station three days after she had been admonished for negligence of duty. Ms. Malviya was admonished by the Superintendent of Police for gross indiscipline at a routine crime review meeting last Saturday. According to some of those present at the meeting, it was found that most of the SHOs attending the meeting were not ready with their updated inspection notes and bound volumes of special notes. They admitted the lapse and said that the certificates regarding documentation were not ready as they were excessively busy with their day-to-day routine. However, one of the SHOs, Laxmi Kushwaha, along with Ms. Malviya produced the certificates. On a cursory examination, the SP found that the information was "blatantly wrong" and when he was chiding Dr. Kushwaha for the lapse, Ms. Malviya entered into an argument with him. At that juncture she was asked to leave the meeting. Three days after this incident, Ms. Malviya herself registered an FIR against the SP accusing him of being vindictive towards her only because she belonged to a weaker section of society. This was treated as an act of gross indiscipline on her part and she was attached to the Crime Records Bureau at Police Headquarters yesterday.
