BCCI suggests one-day match in Ahmedabad, Test in Kolkata

NEW DELHI, FEB. 17. Ahmedabad was today scrapped as a Test venue during the coming Pakistan tour with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) suggesting an additional one-day match there as a possible compromise following Pakistan's reservations over playing in the Gujarat city.

With the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) likely to give its reply to the Indian proposal by tomorrow and the tour itinerary yet to be finalised, the start of the tour is most likely to be delayed by a week.

Pakistan was slated to arrive on February 25 to play three Tests, including one in Ahmedabad and five one-dayers.

After a day-long meeting, the BCCI president, Ranbir Singh Mahendra, told reporters that the Board had proposed to Pakistan that an additional one-dayer be played in Ahmedabad, shifting the Test venue to Kolkata as per the rotational policy of the Board.

"In view of this, the itinerary of the Pakistan cricket team's tour of India would have to be revised appropriately. Their [PCB] approval is expected by tonight or tomorrow," he said and added that the tour might be delayed by four-five days. — PTI
