Principal, Vice-Principal held on rape charge

NEW DELHI, FEB.17. T he Principal of a Government school, the Vice-Principal of another school, and two businessmen have been arrested for allegedly raping a Class X student. The incident took place at Samaipur Badli in North-West Delhi this past week-end.

The girl had been taking private tuitions from 58-year-old Om Prakash Sharma, acting Principal of Government Middle School at Raghubir Nagar here, for the Board examinations.

Mr. Sharma reportedly promised to get her a Class X certificate without appearing for the examination. He and 52-year-old Ved Prakash Sharma — Vice-Principal of Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya in West Patel Nagar — took her to a Haryana PWD rest house. They were joined

by businessmen Jagdish (35) and Om Prakash (48). The foursome allegedly overpowered the girl and criminally assaulted her till the next morning. They dropped her near her house threatening her with dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone.
