No power

COIMBATORE, FEB. 17 . There will be no power supply in the following areas due to shutdown at the Avinashi substation on February 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Avanashi, Velayuthampalayam, Rakkiampalayam, Naduvacherry, Kuppandampalayam, Uppipalayam, Karumpalayam, Sembianallur, Thekkalur, Pudupalayam, Chenneripalayam, Ayyampalayam, Ramanathapuram, Karuvalur, Nambiampalayam, Vadugapalayam, Thulkkamuthur, Vettuvapalayam and Palangarai.

Strike

Officers and Employees of the four public sector general insurance companies staged a demonstration throughout the country in protest against the stalemate over wage revision due from August 1, 2002 and promotion exercise. It was held in front of the regional office of the New India Assurance Company Limited, R. S. Puram.

Cycle rally

Shri Nehru Maha Vidyala College of Arts and Science, Malumachampatti and Coimbatore regional Transport Department will conduct a 55-km cycle rally, `Awareness of Road Safety' on February 18. It will start at 6.30 a.m. from Malumachampatti junction.

Event

CMS College of Science and Commerce will conduct Finance and International Business Exhibition (FIBEX) and Finance and International Business Aptitude Test (FIBAT) on February 19. FIBEX invites students to present charts, models, documents etc. to explain their understanding of current concepts in Finance and International Business. FIBAT will have 200 objective types of questions for a two-hour test. The first prize in both events is Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500 for the second. For registration contact 98422-20242

Cultural fête

Aum Yoga Therapy Trust, Auto Shell and Saarathy - Pammac and Divyodaya will conduct a district-level cultural fête for mentally and physically challenged schoolchildren on February 19.
