BANGALORE, FEB. 17. Three persons, including a five-year-old boy, were killed in as many road accidents reported from the city on Thursday. The police said that Jayanna (35) was killed in an accident involving three vehicles on Mysore Road. Around 12.30 p.m. Jayanna, who was driving a mini lorry carrying cement bags, rammed a truck that had stopped at a traffic signal, off Kwality biscuit factory. The truck hit a Mysore-bound KSRTC bus that was in front of it. Some passengers in the rear seats of the bus suffered minor injuries, the police said. The three vehicles were damaged in the accident, which disrupted traffic on the busy Mysore Road for some time. Quoting eyewitnesses, the police said Jayanna was shouting that the brakes of his vehicle had failed as he was approaching the signal. In another accident, Shivappa (5) was killed when he was run over by a goods vehicle in Peenya police station limits. The police said that around 12.15 p.m. the vehicle ran over Shivappa while he was playing near the road in 2nd Stage, Peenya. Shivappa's parents, labourers from Gulbarga district, were working at a construction site nearby, the police said. The Peenya traffic police seized the vehicle and arrested the driver. The body was handed over to Shivappa's parents after post-mortem at M.S. Ramaiah Hospital. Naveen (28) of Basaveshwaranagar was killed when he rammed his car against a tree on 1st Main, Industrial Town, off Basaveshwaranagar, around 1.30 a.m. Five others, who were in the car, were seriously injured and they have been admitted to two hospitals. The Vijayanagar traffic police have registered a case.
