Helpline to attend to people's problems

SHIMOGA, FEB. 18. The MLC and President of the District Congress Committee, Mir Azeez Ahmed, inaugurated a helpline on the municipal premises here on Friday.

The helpline has been installed to help municipal staff to respond to complaints pertaining to water supply, cleanliness and streetlights within two days.

The helpline (Ph: 226592) can be contacted for registering complaints regarding civic amenities.

In addition, people can e-mail or post their complaints which will also be attended to within two days.

The helpline, which works round the clock, can be utilised even for securing computerised birth and death certificates by paying a fee of Rs. 10.

Mr. Ahmed said the municipal council was ready to respond to the demands and grievances of the people and appealed to them to pay their taxes promptly to enable it to render efficient service.

He referred to the road repair works in certain areas in the city which needed to be attended to immediately.

The Municipal President, B.A. Ramesh Hegde, who presided over the function, said the compilation of tax arrears and property registration would be simplified with the help of the helpline.

The Municipal Commissioner, K.M. Dharmappa, who welcomed the gathering, explained the functioning of the helpline system. Mohan proposed a vote of thanks.
