LUCKNOW, FEB. 18. The main Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party today created noisy scenes in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly to protest the kidnapping of a doctor in Varanasi. The BJP members also staged a walkout from the House when the Speaker rejected their adjournment motion even after allowing it previously. Raising the issue during the zero hour, BJP member Shyam Deo Rai Choudhury said Dr Ajay Agarwal was kidnapped from Ghazipur district on February 9 when he was on his way to Varanasi. The doctors of four districts of Varanasi, Mau, Ghazipur and Azamgarh had even gone on strike to protest the kidnapping of doctor. However, there was no specific reply from the treasury benches over the kidnapping. The BSP members raised the issue of the killing of a youth, Prabhunath Maurya (27) in police custody in Pratapgarh on February 15. Demanding lodging of a murder case against policemen of Maheshganj police station for being involved in the case, BSP member Sukhdeo Rajbhar said the youth was taken in custody by police for extorting Rs 10,000 from his family members. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mohammad Azam Khan said the government will seriously look into the matter. -- UNI
