KOZHIKODE, FEB. 18. The National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C), was leading with 200 points when results of a couple of events on the penultimate day of Ragam '05 were announced this evening. The institute is hosting the event, billed as one of the best campus cultural fests in South India. St. Joseph College of Engineering, Pala, was second with 78 points, while Sri Venkateshwara College of Engineering, Chennai, came third with 68 points. The events kicked off today with the release of daily crossword and daily quizlet. The Antakshari (Hindi) event brought great enthusiasm as there was a close tie among the teams. The RIT, Kottayam; the College of Engineering, Kidangoor; and the Government College of Engineering, Kannur; finished first, second and third, respectively, in the event. Extempore (English) witnessed keen competitions with many of the 19 contestants coming up with impressive performances. The first prize was won by Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, while the NIT-C and S.B. College, Changanasserry, came second and third, respectively. The Calicut University team was crowned winners in the collage event for their innovative use of paper and glue. The College of Engineering, Adoor, and the RIT, Kottayam, came second and third, respectively. The topic for Malayalam debate was `Role of religion in nation building.' The other interesting events of the day included tableau and Ad-venture, in which participants showcased their acting talents along with wacky ideas. Participants mimicked well-known personalities in the mock press event. Dumb charades involved quick guessing and animated gestures. The eastern orchestra event had the crowd swinging to latest Indian tunes. The winners were the Federal Institute of Science and Technology, Kannur, followed by the NIT-C and the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, in second and third positions. The highly anticipated events the Fashion Show and the Rock Show by Motherjane will be held on Saturday night. Some of the results are: Eastern orchestra: 1. Federal Institute of Science and Technology, Kannur; 2. NIT-C; and 3. College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram. Rangoli: 1. RIT, Kottayam; 2. St. Joseph College of Engineering, Pala; 3. NIT-C Extempore (M): 1. Government School of Nursing, Kozhikode; 2. Zamorins Guruvayurappan College; 3. Calicut University Institute of Engineering. Anthakshari (M): 1. AWH Engineering College, Kuttikkattoor, Calicut; 2. NIT-C; 3. Federal Institute of Science and Technology. Monoact: 1. Government Engineering College, Thrissur; 2. SCMS School of Engineering and Technology; 3. NIT-C. Movie spoof: 1. NIT-C; 2. St. Joseph College of Engineering, Pala; 3. Amritha School of Engineering, Coimbatore. Group dance: 1. NIT-C; 2.
