LUCKNOW, FEB. 18. Eleven more cases of dropsy have been detected in different clusters in Rajajipuram locality of the State Capital where two children have died of the disease taking the number of those affected by the disease to 101. The health authorities have sounded an alert in the district. The new cases were detected since yesterday and were referred to different hospitals, Chief Medical Officer of Lucknow Jai Prakash Yadav said today. With the detection of the fresh cases, an alert has been sounded in Lucknow district and efforts were on to educate the people about the disease and its symptoms in order to keep a check on its spread, he said. While eight samples of the mustard oil were collected from rural areas around Lucknow, two fresh samples have been taken from the city in order to check traces of the dreaded argemone mexicana, the cause of dropsy, he said.
