PONDICHERRY, FEB. 19. The UCO Bank in Pondicherry will offer all-life insurance products of the Life Insurance Corporation along with its daily banking service as an added facility. According to a press release here, the service was launched with a Bhima Mela at the UCO bank main branch. The mela was organised jointly by LIC and National Insurance Corporation of India. V. Ramachandran, managing director, Jayaram Hotel, gave the first premium of the policy to N Chakravarthy, product manager, LIC, Vellore division. A similar mela was organised at the UCO bank Bazaar branch (J N Street) on Thursday. The release said the bank entered into an agreement with LIC to offer all life insurance products. The bank will act as a corporate agent of the LIC and they will collect the premium from their customers and remit the same o the LIC. In case of claims, they will forward the papers to the LIC for their consideration and once it is settled, the bank will collect the claim amount from them and arrange for payment.
