15,000 set to take test for clerical jobs

PONDICHERRY, FEB.19. More than 15,000 candidates (8,450 women and 7,059 men) are set to appear for the competitive examination scheduled for tomorrow for recruitment to the posts of Lower Division Clerks (LDCs) in the Pondicherry Government. The total vacancies to be filled are 181.

A press release from the Director of School Education, G. Theva Neethi Dhas, who is also the Chief Controller, said here today the examination would be held simultaneously in Pondicherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam. The question paper will be of objective type at the SSLC level. The test will be held in two sessions: between 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The questions can be answered in the respective regional language and in English.

The Transport Department has been requested to run more buses for the benefit of the candidates. A control room manned by the Director of Local Administration Department, E. Vallavan, who is also the examination coordinator, will function in the Chief Secretariat at telephone number 22 33 265.
