NEW DELHI, FEB. 19. The Central Government has allowed the inclusion of 17 new categories of businesses in the list of household industries through exercise of powers conferred on it by Sub-Section (2) of Section 11-A of the Delhi Development Act 1956. The new businesses which would be permissible under the list of household industries would include atta chakkis (flour mills), assembly of bakelite switches, assembly and repairing of measuring instruments (excluding handling of mercury and hazardous materials), clay and modelling with plaster of paris, dairy products, dry cleaning, enamelling vitreous without use of coal, khus tattis, milk cream separation, manufacture of jute products, manufacture of bindi, photo-copying of drawings including enlargement of drawings and designs, packaging of shampoos, packaging of hair oil, rubber stamps, screen painting and mixing and packaging of utensil washing powder. Also in partial modification of Gazette notification S.O 928 (E) dated August 16, 2004, which was published in the Gazette of India the following day, the nomenclature of industries mentioned in item numbers 18, 20 and 21 has been revised as assembly and repair of electrical gadgets, cooler/heater; assembly and repair of sewing machines; and assembly and repair of typewriter excluding font casting. Further under the partial modification burning of coal and use of CFC gases are two processes which have been included in the lost of non-permissible activities. Finally, the clause regarding storage of chemicals has also been modified and now states that "storing of chemicals listed under Schedule I and/or II of the Manufacture, Storage and Import of Hazardous Chemical Rules, 1989, and Public Liability Insurance Act, 1990 shall be prohibited.''
