PUNE, FEB. 19 .The Government was looking into the exiled Bangladeshi writer, Taslima Nasreen's prayer for Indian citizenship, the Home Minister, Shivraj Patil, said today. "We have received the application and are looking into it,'' he said. Mr. Patil was talking to reporters here on the sidelines of the convocation function at Bharati Vidyapeeth. Ms. Nasreen, who is facing a death threat from radical Islamic groups in Bangladesh, has sought Indian citizenship saying her country of origin has ``slammed the doors'' on her. She had faxed a letter to Mr. Patil on Thursday requesting she be given Indian citizenship or residential permit. The writer was issued a death threat by fundamentalist outfits in Bangladesh in 1994 for alleged blasphemous writings and had faced a court case on the charge of hurting religious sentiments. PTI
