ANANTAPUR, FEB. 19. In a major fire accident at Tanakallu in the district on Saturday 36 roadside shops and four houses were destroyed. One person sustained minor burns while trying to save his belongings. The loss has been estimated at about Rs. 20 lakhs. According to information a hotel caught fire due to sparks from the kitchen in the morning and it was put out by hotel owners and neighbours. However, fire broke out again in the afternoon in the same hotel and spread to surrounding shops within no time with the help of heavy winds. Traffic along the NH-205 was disrupted for about an hour due to the fire.
