`Health awareness needs to be raised in rural areas'

BANGALORE, FEB. 19. People in rural areas are not getting the benefit of technology and healthcare facilities which are confined to urban areas, N. Cheluvarayaswamy, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, said here on Saturday.

Inaugurating Healthsys, a healthcare services organisation, he said there is a need to create better awareness among people in rural areas on the need to take care of their health.

Lifestyle changes and proper exercise and diet are necessary to prevent diseases, he said.

Healthsys provides various services such as health check-up, vaccination, creation and maintenance of a comprehensive health file of its clients, networking with doctors and lifestyle management services. A portal, healthsysindia.com, was also launched.

It will give health information and tips to clients.

Healthsys India, a non-governmental organisation, which will provide free basic healthcare services to promote better health of socio-economically challenged sections of society, was inaugurated on the occasion.

Asif Naim, chief executive officer of the organisation, spoke.
