Sir, — This refers to the editorial, `Research without barriers' (Feb. 19). The Public Access Policy of the National Institutes of Health in the United States is a timely gift for all countries.

With cures for several ailments being discovered, it is imperative that this knowledge is made available to all.

Sir, — One finds from published literature that there is a lot of duplication in the research field, an enormous monetary and intellectual waste. Universal access to credible research reports can help avoid this.
