Sir, This refers to the editorial, `Research without barriers' (Feb. 19). The Public Access Policy of the National Institutes of Health in the United States is a timely gift for all countries. With cures for several ailments being discovered, it is imperative that this knowledge is made available to all.

Sir, One finds from published literature that there is a lot of duplication in the research field, an enormous monetary and intellectual waste. Universal access to credible research reports can help avoid this.
