Kaneria feels Dravid is the danger man

NEW DELHI, FEB. 20. Predicting that Rahul Dravid will be the thorn in Pakistan's flesh during the series against India, Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria said he is looking forward to meeting the Indian vice-captain.

Speaking to BBC Hindi, Kaneria said: "It's just Rahul Dravid, I respect him a lot. He is a great player and my favourite too. I don't think any other Indian batsman will be difficult to bowl at. He has got the class and he would be the main wicket for me. He is truly `The Wall.'''

The spinner, however, refused to be bogged down by the reputation of the Indian middle order and said it is not as strong as Australia.

``The Indian batting line-up is solid but I don't think (Mohd.) Kaif and Yuvraj (Singh) fall under the same category as Australia's Damien Martyn, Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist. I have bowled well against these top batsmen and I do not think there will be any difficulty bowling to Kaif and Yuvraj. It's just Dravid, if I get him, it will be an achievement for me,'' he said.

Kaneria said playing India was no different from playing other countries.

``It's like playing against Australia or the West Indies, there is no difference. It's just sport and I look at it from a cricketing point of view.''

``Mujhe to bas maa baap aur Pakistan ka naam roshan karna hai (I just have to perform well and bring laurels to my parents and the country),'' he said.

``In the ground, no one is your friend and no one is your brother. After entering the ground, everybody plays for his name and for the love of the game.''

Spearheading the attack

Aware that he would have to spearhead the spin attack against India, Kaneria welcomed the decision to recall Arshad Khan.

"We have a good spin attack now. I was the only spinner on the Australian tour and there was no one to support me. Now, my workload will come down as I will have support from Arshad. As a leg-spinner I will attack and as an off-spinner Arshad can help contain the batsmen. We also have Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi to help us,'' he said.

Though it is his first tour to India, there will be no pressure on him, claimed Kaneria.

``Australian tour was tough but there was no pressure, I have played enough cricket. I know India is a big tour and their wickets suit spinners. It is a big challenge as India is a good team with good batsmen who play spinners well, but (the) Australian batsmen also play spin well and I did well against them. So I am confident of performing even better than the Australian tour,'' he said.

Talking about the Indian spin attack, Kaneria said, "(Anil) Kumble is an experienced bowler with more than 450 wickets, Harbhajan (Singh) is also bowling well. I know they always play well at home, but it will only be decided on the field. When two teams play against each other and two spinners bowl against each other, then we will know who is where.'' — UNI
