Central Excise lifts Federation Cup
KOCHI,
FEB. 20.
A sterling show by international Subash J. Shenoy (31 points) helped Central Excise, Kochi win the 21st Federation Cup basketball championship and emerge as the country's champion club at Bhavnagar, Gujarat, on Saturday.
Central Excise defeated Punjab Police 81-72 in the men's final. Sunny Thomas (19) and Vivek were the others who sparkled in the Kochi team's maiden Federation Cup victory. The State's previous victory in the championship came through Kerala Police in 1991.
Southern Railway (Chennai) won the women's title beating Delhi.
