Training for tsunami-affected youth

By Our Staff Reporter

MADURAI, FEB. 20. The Don Bosco Industrial Training Institute, Madurai, has started a skill-training institute at Tranquebar to help youth in tsunami-hit areas find jobs and participate in the rehabilitation work.

In a release, Rev. Casimir Raj, director and principal, said youth needed training in masonry, boat repair and maintenance, net making and mending, wiring, winding, plumbing and repair of household appliances. Imparting training alone would not help these youth. Representatives of government organisations and non-government organisations should ensure that the trained youths found jobs.
