Vijayawada
By Our Staff Reporter
VIJAYAWADA, FEB. 20. The Commissioner of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, V. Usharani, said on Sunday that producers and exhibitors should take a keen interest in promoting children's films. She stressed the need for efforts by all the concerned to ensure that children are not influenced by films replete with violent and obscene scenes. Ms. Usharani was speaking after inaugurating an exhibition organised at Navrang Theatre as part of the 5-day children's film festival. The event was being organised by the Andhra Pradesh Film, TV and Theatre Development Corporation and the State Chapter of Children's Film Society of India. Expressing concern over growing influence of cinema and TV, the Commissioner said children were being exposed to programmes that would not help in their personality development in any manner. She said only films that carry a message would be best suited to fulfil their needs. The Sub-Collector, Buddha Prakash Jyothi, the Vijayawada Exhibitors Association President, Muttavarapu Venkateswara Rao, and others spoke.
