Extortion charge against former IG
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
FEB. 20.
A case has been booked against the former Inspector General of Police, K.S.N. Murthy, by the Banjara Hills police here on the charge of extorting money from a businessman, Md. Murtuza Ali Khan.
The businessman, in his complaint, stated that the retired police officer had failed to pay rent for his house at Banjara Hills for a long time. He alleged that the former IGP started blackmailing him when he insisted on clearing the rent dues.
The West Zone DCP, N. Sanjay, said the complaint was vague in some aspects. "We received the complaint's copy through the office of the DGP. As Mr. Khan was not available for clarification, investigation is hampered," he said.
The complainant also charged that the former IGP forced him to sell the house and got it registered fraudulently, but did not specify the dates and time clearly, the DCP explained.
