VISAKHAPATNAM, FEB. 21. A protest demonstration against the alleged corruption and irregularities in Visakha Dairy was organised in front of the Collectorate by the Visakha Dairy Employees United Action Committee on Monday. Addressing the demonstrators, the CITU State president, Ch. Narasinga Rao, took exception to the decision of the dairy to purchase land at Ketavaram village in East Godavari district instead of improving milk procurement measures in the backward districts of Vizianagaram and Srikakulam. The land was purchased only to assist a private dairy, he said. He also alleged that a computer company was paid Rs.10 lakhs as advance and after it failed to deliver, negotiations were on with another company. The CITU leaders, M.S. Prakasa Rao, Ramprakash, K. Modi Naidu and S. Dharma Rao, and the INTUC leaders, K. Krishna and B. Appala Naidu spoke.
