Director-General, Military Intelligence

NEW DELHI, FEB. 22. Deepak Summanwar will take over as Director-General of Military Intelligence tomorrow, replacing Richard Khare. Commissioned into the 17 Rajputana Rifles, he has seen active operations in 1971 during the war with Pakistan.

Lt. Gen. Summanwar commanded an Infantry Brigade in Rajasthan and a Mountain Brigade on the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir where it participated in the Kargil conflict.

He has also commanded a division in Kargil during Operation Parakram.
