Hyderabad defeats Saurashtra

MUMBAI, FEB. 22. Ambati Rayudu helped Hyderabad beat Saurashtra by four wickets on the final day of the under-22 cricket tournament for the C. K. Nayudu Trophy here on Tuesday.

Needing 134 runs for an outright victory, Rayudu (59) hit three fours and a six in his 96-ball knock before being caught at deep mid-wicket by Sandil Natkan off off-spinner Mohsinh Dodia.

Saurashtra's left-arm seamer Ravindra Jadeja took four Hyderabad wickets for 53 runs.

Saurashtra, which had conceded a first innings lead of 109 runs, resumed its second innings at the overnight 139 for one and was bowled out for 242. Overnight batsmen Bhushan Chauhan (95, 104b, 16x4, 6x1) and Cheteshwar Pujara (59, 81b, 7x4) added 154 runs for the second wicket.

Left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha (five for 105), Alfred Absolom (three for 52) and Rayudu (two for 10) were the successful bowlers for Hyderabad.

The scores:

Saurashtra 246 and 242 in 43.3 overs (B. Chauhan 95, C. Pujara 59, P. Ojha five for 105) lost to Hyderabad 355 and 134 for six (A.T. Rayudu 59, R. Jadeja four for 53). — PTI
