Injured Kamala Kannan concedes match

KOLKATA, FEB. 22. Top seeded Kamala Kannan of Tamil Nadu aggravated a wrist injury to exit from the Central Excise Open grass court tennis tournament, conceding his second round match against State-mate Ajai Selvaraj here on Tuesday.

In the other matches, wild card and local boy Rupesh Roy continued his winning run beating sixth seeded Sandeep Choudhary of Rajasthan.

Unseeded Venkatesh Vignesh of Andhra Pradesh ousted the seventh seed local Manoj Kumar Sewa in a match stretched to the decider. Second seed Ashutosh Singh of Delhi had it easy against Harish Upendran from Tamil Nadu. Fourth seeded Arjun Goutham (Karnataka) and fifth seeded Saurav Sukul (Bengal) also progressed to the quarterfinals.
