Shabeer wins 800m

NEW DELHI, FEB. 22. A.R. Shabeer and Sumanan Mandal won the 800m races in men's and women's sections, in the fourth BSNL all-India athletics meet at the Karnail Singh Stadium here on Tuesday.

The results:

Men: 800m: 1. Shabeer A.R. 1:59.8, 2. Sateshwar Prasad 2:00.8, 3. Sunil Yadav 2:01.7.

5000m: 1. Varinder Yadav 16:07.7, 2. Vimal Kumar 19:27.7, 3. Thomas P. V. 19:32.4.

400m hurdles: 1. Parthasarthy 56.4, 2. Satishwar 1:01.2, 3. Bhubinder Singh 1:01.6. Long jump: 1. Vinoth F. J. 7.15m, 2. Sheikh Nisar Alam 6.49, 3. K. B. Thakore 6.37.

Women: 800m: 1. Sumanan Mandal 2:42.4, 2. Suganyar 3:24.9, 3. Kanta Yadav 3:32.4.

Long jump: 1. Amita Sethi 5.26m, 2. Sumana Mandal 4.73, 3. Jasmin Jolly 4.33.
