J&K Governor for softening of borders
By Our Staff Reporter
JAMMU,
FEB. 22.
The Jammu and Kashmir Governor, S.K. Sinha, today called for softening of borders to restore ties with Pakistan.
More and more routes along the Line of Control and the International Border should be opened to bring the people on both sides closer to each other.
Addressing the joint session of the Legislature, Mr. Sinha said the landmark decision to open the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road from April 7 was like a dream come true for many generations.
Lt. Gen. Sinha hoped the step would promote peace and normalisation of relations and lead to the opening of Suchetgarh-Sialkot, Kargil-Skardu and other road links."
The Governor said the process of building peace and trust was indispensable and irreversible. On the return of Kashmiri migrants to the Valley, he said the Government was committed to restoring the pluralistic ethos.
The construction of cluster accommodations at Sheikhpora Budgam and Harang had started, he added.
