Kurnool
By Our Staff Reporter
KURNOOL, FEB. 22. The Special Officer incharge of Kurnool district, Krishnaiah, on Tuesday said the Government would take back the land assigned to the landless in case they sold it. Mr. Krishnaiah reviewed the land distribution at Alluru in Nandikotkur mandal and Bhaskarapuram in Jupadu Bungalow mandal. The collector, Vikas Raj, accompanied the special officer. Mr. Krishnaiah said the farmers had no right to sell the assigned land. In case they did so, the assignment would get cancelled and the Government would take over the land. The farmers expressed happiness over giving titles for the lands they had been cultivating for the last 40 years.
Check dam urged
The officers told the farmers that the Government would extend all support to the farmers to develop the land. Besides the support for the land development, farmers would be given bullocks and carts. The farmers told the officers that if Nakkalavagu was deepened an additional 300 acres would be available for cultivation. Also, they asked for a check dam to meet the drinking water needs for cattle. The MRO, Hussain, told the officers that farmer passbooks and title deeds were given to beneficiaries. The Collector asked the officers to take up works that improved the living standards of villagers rather than constructing compound walls and roads. The Collector also reviewed the drinking water arrangements for summer in the village. On being informed of seasonal migration of labourers this year, he asked the officers to start works under Indira Prabha programme immediately to provide work to labourers.
