ZP to have grievance redress day every week

By Our Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR, FEB. 22. The newly-elected chairperson of the Zilla Parishad, G. Thippeswamy, has planned to conduct every Monday as a grievance redress day from February 28.

Representations on all problems related to the local body and its employees would be received every Monday and the grievances would be redressed in a time-bound schedule, Mr. Thippeswamy told newspersons here on Tuesday. The chairperson, the CEO, the PEO and other important officials of the Zilla Parishad would be available in the office from 10 am to 5 pm on this day to receive representations.

All the representations would be computerised and would be sent to the officers concerned for redress. Grievances at the mandal level would be sent to the MPDOs' offices and those in the purview of the State Government would be sent to the departments concerned, Mr . Thippeswamy explained.

Special cells

A special cell would be opened to deal with the grievances. Another special cell would be set up to monitor the drinking water problem in rural areas. The ZP was also pursuing the Rs. 250-crore drinking water pipeline scheme to Penukonda, Madakasira, Hindupur and Gorantla constituencies, he said.

Stating that there was problem of school buildings and additional class rooms all over the district the ZP chairperson admitted that classes in some schools were being held under tree shade and said the necessary building would be constructed in a phased manner.

The legislators were asked to send proposals on the need for new schools and upgradation of the existing ones.

He refuted the allegations that the Congress had `bought' a few ZPTC members of the TDP, BJP and CPI to wrest the chairpersonship from the TDP.

He denied offering lump sum works to any member in lieu of voting for the Congress in the ZP chief's byelection held on January 29.
