ANANTAPUR, FEB. 22. The district Collector, Y. V. Anuradha, on Tuesday said various socio-cultural activities were being organised at the district headquarters to bring about a change in the mindset of people. While a book exhibition and a special handlooms expo were already on, a stage play, a social drama based on the problems of a farmer hit by the drought and economic reforms would be performed on February 26 and 27, she told newspersons here. "It is a must-see for all farmers,'' the Collector said. There was no fee for watching the play on the two days. The play would inspire farmers to face the problems. The responsibility of giving publicity about the play in rural areas was entrusted to the Agriculture, Information and Public Relations Departments, and two NGOs -- RDT and VANA. The administration would provide accommodation to farmers coming from outside the town, the Collector said. Special buses would also be provided for return journey of villagers, who would like to return home after the play. The play had already won critical acclaim from different quarters and performed 70 times in the State so far. The writer and director of the play, Patibandla Ananda Rao, and representatives of NGOs were also present.
