Zee offer

By A. Subramani

CHENNAI, FEB. 22. Zee Telefilms Limited (ZTL) is ready to produce and sell the coming Pakistan cricket series and also to remit the entire revenue into the account of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

ZTL is expected to file a written suggestion to this effect before the Madras High Court tomorrow. The court is seized of ZTL's writ petition challenging the BCCI decision to cancel the tendering process for awarding the telecast rights.

When senior counsel for ZTL, P.S. Raman, made an oral suggestion in this regard today, Justice K.P. Sivasubramaniam directed him to give complete particulars in writing.

Enquiries show that ZTL will file the suggestion tomorrow, stating that the BCCI could appoint an independent auditor to fix a reasonable production cost. The suggestion, similar to the one offered by ZTL before the Bombay High Court prior to the start of the Aussie tour, was made pursuant to the BCCI's claim that it had lost about Rs. 145 crores after it chose to produce and market the Aussie series on its own.
