NEW DELHI, FEB. 22. The Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, was today apprised of the apprehensions of the Bharatiya Janata Party on the Government's decision to allow Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service without passports. The apprehensions were conveyed to the Prime Minister at a meeting he had with top BJP leaders to discuss the Budget and the Government's initiatives on improving ties with Islamabad following the recent visit of the External Affairs Minister, Natwar Singh, to Pakistan. Dr. Singh is scheduled to meet leaders of the ruling coalition, including the Left parties, on Thursday. At the hour-long meeting, the BJP leaders, including the party president, L.K. Advani, and the former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, said permission to travel in the bus without passports was fraught with serious "security implications.'' They also apprised the Prime Minister of their views on the 12th Finance Commission. Others present at the meting were the Defence Minister, Pranab Mukherjee, the Finance Minister, P. Chidambaram and Mr. Natwar Singh.
