CHITRADURGA, FEB. 22. The Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, H.S. Mahadeva Prasad, has said that yellow cards will be issued to all eligible beneficiaries before May-end. Addressing presspersons here on Monday, he said a survey is being conducted to identify beneficiaries, and it is expected to be completed by the end of April. Mr. Prasad said there are 79 lakh families below the poverty line in the State. There were complaints that eligible families were not included in the list of beneficiaries, and that families which were not eligible were included. The process of identifying those who are not eligible for yellow cards has begun, he added. Deputy commissioners have been asked to conduct a resurvey of beneficiaries to rectify mistakes. The deadline for submission of reports has been extended from February-end to April end, as the election code of conduct is in force. Task forces have been formed to prevent misuse of petroleum products, Mr. Prasad said.
