Maoists blast forest range office

WARANGAL,
FEB. 22.
Maoists blasted a forest range office at Kothaguda mandal headquarters late last night.
According to villagers, two naxalites went to the office on a two-wheeler at around 1.30 a.m. and planted two landmines on the premises and detonated them. In the violence of the blast, the entire building, consisting of four rooms, came crashing down.
The Forest Range Officer, Shankaraiah, who lodged a complaint with the police, put the loss at Rs. 10 lakhs.
There was panic in the village after the blast. Some villagers fled the place and those who stayed back remained indoors till late in the afternoon.
The Maoists claimed that they had resorted to the act to protest against the encounter at Ramaram village. In the exchange of fire that took place on January 16, the party lost two of its legal cadre and a large quantity of weapons.

MAHABUBNAGAR: There was an exchange of fire between the CPI (Maoists) and a police party near Garabandala Chenu village under Amrabad police station limits on Tuesday morning. No causality was reported. Police recovered a huge quantity of ration items.
