HYDERABAD, FEB. 22. The Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, turned philosophical in the Assembly today on the "bitterness" with which his predecessor, N. Chandrababu Naidu, was criticising the Government these days. Replying to the debate on the Governor's address, Dr. Reddy referred to how Mr. Naidu, without hesitation, had mentioned his son's name in connection with Paritala Ravi's killing and said, "Government, politics and power are not permanent. Why drag names of children into politics. One should not stoop to such level. After all, he too has a son." He also referred to how Telugu Desam members had linked his son to suitcase the bomb case by insisting on an adjournment motion in the House at that time. Dr. Reddy said he had ordered a CBI inquiry into Paritala Ravi's killing not minding the mentioning of his son's name by Mr. Naidu and its inclusion, at his instance, in the complaint lodged by Paritala's father-in-law. The judicial enquiry would have been by a sitting judge as wanted by the Telugu Desam but for the High Court's helplessness to spare a judge.
`A family friend'
He said the killing itself was unfortunate, adding that Paritala was a friend of his family. The Chief Minister stated that the bitterness of Mr. Naidu was such that he had failed to extend least courtesies expected from the Leader of the Opposition. He refused to shake hands with him on the opening day of the session.
