Naidu to blame, say CPI, TRS Bid to create constitutional crisis: Congress

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, FEB. 22. The Congress has accused the Telugu Desam Party of hatching a conspiracy to create a constitutional crisis by preventing the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, from giving a reply to the motion of thanks to Governor's address.

Decrying the conduct of TDP members in the House leading the suspension of the TDP deputy leader, N. Janardhan Reddy and others, the Agriculture Minister, N. Raghuveera Reddy, and others at a press conference on Tuesday blamed the TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, for the unruly scenes. They termed TDP members' actions `undemocratic.'

They justified the Speaker, K. R. Suresh Reddy's action and faulted Mr. Naidu for backing his colleague, who had allegedly made unparliamentary remarks. "The ruckus created today in the House was a ploy by the TDP members to get suspended so that they gained political mileage,'' they charged.

Mr. Raghuveera Reddy said it was unfortunate that Dr. Janardhan Reddy was unrepentant after his objectionable conduct. There was nothing unusual in suspending TDP members as the earlier TDP Government had resorted to a similar act on several occasions.

The BAC meeting had decided that the murder of the Penukonda MLA, Paritala Ravi, would be taken up under Rule 304 after the Chief Minister's reply to the Governor's address. "They failed to give a notice and instead served an adjournment notice on the issue," he pointed out. "The Government was prepared to take up a discussion on the issue but they were hell bent on creating trouble," he remarked. The Ministers -- Botsa Satyanarayana, Kanna Laxminarayana and Jakkampudi Rammohan Rao -- and other party MLAs were present.

The CPI floor leader, Chada Venkat Reddy, observed that members could not hold the House to ransom. The Telangana Rashtra Samiti member, M. Satyanarayana Reddy, blamed the TDP chief for the conduct of his party members. The BJP floor leader, Kishan Reddy, lashed out at the Government for its "hasty action" in suspending members.
