LUCKNOW, FEB. 22. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has sent Rs 9.02 crores to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund for the tsunami victims. The money was donated by various officials, departments and individuals of the State, an official release issued today said. While earlier, the Chief Minister had met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and handed over cheques worth Rs 7.5 crores for the victims of tsunami, a sum of Rs 1.52 crores, collected later by various organisations, has also been sent to the Centre. The Chief Minister in a statement here expressed gratitude to the people, in particular to the young students of various schools, who donated for the cause. He was especially touched by the concern of a nursery student Isha Mishra who came to him to donate for the tsunami victims and embraced her for the generous effort. -- UNI
