SHIMLA, FEB. 22. Intense cold wave again gripped Himachal Pradesh after a day's relief as high-altitude tribal areas and other higher reaches had another spell of snowfall while the mid-hills, including State capital Shimla, were lashed by strong icy winds, accompanied by rain and snow. The Hindustan-Tibet National Highway was closed due to heavy snow beyond Kufri while the Chamba-Pathankot National Highway was reopened after four days, facilitating supplies of essential items in Chamba town. However, the power supply was still erratic and efforts were being made to reopen the Banikhet-Dalhousie road. All schools in Chamba, Bharmaur, Tissa and Dalhousie sub-divisions had been closed till February 27 due to heavy snowfall. The Upper Shimla region was cut off by road and vehicular traffic to Theog, Narkanda, Kotkhai, Chopal and Jubbal had been disrupted due to fresh snowfall. The Rampur-bound buses were being diverted via Basantpur and Kingal while Kiratpur-Manali National Highway was open upto Manali. -- PTI
