Congress neglecting poll promises: CPI(M)
By Our Staff Reporter
VISAKHAPATNAM,
FEB. 22.
The CPI(M) State Secretary, B.V. Raghavulu, accused the Congress Government of going back on its election promises, while addressing a public meeting here on Tuesday.
He cited the example of the Government modifying the free power scheme and felt that it was wrong to allocate a majority of the funds for irrigation projects at the cost of welfare schemes. While none could object the implementation of irrigation projects, the funds would not suffice to complete all the projects and feared that many would have to be stopped half way through. Mr. Raghavulu instead wanted the Government to go for loans, if necessary, for implementing the irrigation projects and not disturb the allocation for welfare schemes.
Tenders row
Referring to the allegations of corruption in the allocation of tenders, he said that the Government should take the responsibility of proving its innocence.
