UDUPI, FEB. 22. The "Horekanike" procession for the "Maha Nadavali" being held at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala was flagged off in front of the Sri Krishna Mutt, here on Tuesday by Sri Vishwesha Tirtha Swamiji of Sri Pejawar Mutt. Nearly 1,000 "murras" of rice, 75,000 coconuts, 100 tins of jaggery, two tonnes of "Mattu Gulla" (a type of brinjal grown at Mattu in Udupi district), tender coconuts, bananas, were taken in 150 vehicles in the "Horekanike." These items have been contributed by people from Kaup, Brahmavar and Udupi. Sri Vishwapriya Tirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Sri Admar Mutt, Sri Lakshmivara Tirtha Swamiji of Sri Shiroor Mutt, and the Kaup MLA, Lalaji Mendan, were present. Nearly 1,500 persons participated in the procession.
