Partly cloudy

CHENNAI, FEB. 22. The sky will be partly cloudy on Wednesday and the minimum temperature will be around 24 degrees Celsius. On Tuesday, both Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 32.1 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperatures were 23.9 degrees Celsius and 23.5 degrees Celsius respectively. The humidity was 75 per cent.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended on Thursday in parts of VOC Nagar and Perungudi areas between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work.

Blood donation

About 100 units of blood were donated by the staff of Tata Consultancy Services, Sholinganallur, at a camp organised by the Lions Club of Madras Velachery, last week. The club has collected 4,520 units of blood, including this camp, between July 2004 and February 2005.

Annual Day

Padma Sarangapani Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Villivakkam, celebrated its 34th Annual Day, last week. Presiding over the function, L. Krishnan, Special Secretary, Finance, Tamil Nadu Government, said success could be attained only through persistent practice and confidence.

Meditation programme

A four-day meditation programme on `Understanding the energy fields of our being' is being organised by Sadhana Sangama Trust from February 28 to March 3. Donation

In a bid to rehabilitate residents of Aalikuppam, 60 km off Tiruvanmiyur, students and staff of SIP Academy India have donated Rs. one lakh towards fishing nets. Hindustan Lever Limited, donated toiletries kit worth Rs. 7,50,000, and Aid India, a non-governmental organisation, helped out.

`Van dhamaka'

About 40,000 packs of Glucovita were handed over to the Indian Red Cross by a team from Wipro last week in tsunami affected areas. Wipro recently announced a `van dhamaka' scheme where traders could win a van by guessing the number of soaps.
