CHENNAI, FEB. 22. Chennai-based AIMS Education is joining hands with The Hindu to conduct a `Talent Search Test' and a workshop to assess and improve academic ability of students entering Standards IX, X and XII. The events will be part of The Hindu's `newspaper in education' (NIE) programme. According to Gita Prabhu, Executive Director, AIMS Education, the students in these classes have a good curriculum, but the rigorous academic schedule and social pressure leave little time for them to develop certain vital skills and abilities to obtain good results. In the first stage starting Wednesday, AIMS will deliver a 30-minute talent test. It can be conducted in the school premises itself under the supervision of the schoolteachers. The sealed question paper packets, coding sheets for answering would be delivered by AIMS and also collected later for evaluation. The results will be intimated directly to the school. "The school can conduct the test on any one of the dates we have given them," Ms. Prabhu added.
Propel workshop
In the second stage, five to 10 students from each school (the number may go up for schools with more sections in the same standard) will be selected and invited to the `Propel Workshop' at a selected venue during the third week of April. It will focus on identifying and developing the interest areas of the participants. Academics and specialists would offer suggestions to achieve students' goals. A questionnaire circulated there would assess the receptive level of the participants and the contents of the workshop. Winners would get cash prizes and shields to the respective schools. For participation, schools may contact: 9840710510 / 9841082147 / 24359822.
