NEW DELHI, FEB. 22. Two young men, including a former State level javelin champion, have been arrested by the Special Staff of the South Delhi police for allegedly robbing a brick kiln owner of his car in Faridabad on February 11. The car has been recovered from the accused. The incident was reported from Old Faridabad on February 11. The Special Staff, led by Inspector Rajender Singh, were also investigating the incident. Following a specific tip-off, a Special Staff team laid a trap in Govindpuri and arrested the two accused, Pawan Kumar and Rajkumar, on Monday. They were found to be driving a stolen Indica car with a fake registration number plate. A country-made revolver was also recovered from them. During interrogation, the accused told the police that one Mukesh, who knew about the brick kiln owner, had told Pawan about the possibility of huge booty if he robbed him. Pawan roped in his associate, Rajkumar, who managed to procure a country-made revolver and a few cartridges. The duo then stole a Maruti car from Sector-19 in Faridabad on February 10 and used the car to commit the crime next day. They had intercepted the businessman's car and shot at him. However, the bullet missed the target. The duo got into the car and forced the businessman to drive for a couple of kilometres and then threw him out of the car and escaped. The Maruti car was left behind on the spot. The police said Pawan and Rajkumar, both sons of former Army officials, have earlier been booked under the Arms Act. Pawan was also the under-16 champion for Uttar Pradesh and had later participated in the national competition.
